B.P - I have a ranch in Elkhart, TX i'm sure your familiar w/the location. I to have tracks on my ranch that possibly belong to a mountian lion, i found them while scouting this deer season. However I will not go as far as saying it is confirmed. Through researching I have found that Mountain Lion tracks have great resemblance to large canine tracks. I also took pictures of the tracks and would love to have the opportunity to campare our pictures.

I found a track in the woods today I researched it and confirmed it was a mountain lion's hind track. It was 3.0 inches wide by 3.5 long. I live in Palestine, Texas. I am a hunter, fairly good tracker and an outstanding marksman with any firearm from a .22 to a .50 cal. This print scared me its a big animal between 190-270 pounds. I did take pictures.

In the early 70s I pulled on a small spot off Hwy 50 in Colorado. I planned to sleep for a while. A long and sort of bony looking brown cat, mountain lion, came up the side of the hill, on the right side of my car, and stopped on the edge of the hill, and stared at my car. Finally the cat walked across the hwy and went up the hillside out of sight. The only thing his face was solid brown as his body, kind of deer brown. After the cat left, I decided that I would go on down the road to sleep.

I saw a mountain lion in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia last fall! The Park ranger said they are so rare to see there that they are not officially considered a viable population in the park, as opposed to black bears, for example...

I was looking up pictures to confirm my sighting and found this site. It definitely was not a bobcat or lynx and the Park ranger admitted that he had seen them in that park, too---in Virginia!! It looked just like this picture.

There were so many deer there and it was late dusk---the lion I saw appeared to be on the hunt. When he stopped and stared at me too, I could tell that he was very formidable! Very exciting to see!! (from the safety of my car ;)

Gorgeous and how lucky for that lion to live on that beautiful national land!
